As a result of its latest investment in a Heidelberg “Push to Stop” Speedmaster XL106 press, customers of Streamline Press will benefit from faster delivery from receipt of artwork, best in class colour matching and consistency, and a more cost effective process; without compromising on quality.
“Customers are at the forefront of our minds when we invest in equipment,” says Mark Lockley, Managing Director of the Leicester based commercial print company. “This new printing press reduces our lead times and waste, whilst improving overall productivity. This is a great investment to improve our short to medium print runs, which we are often expected to turn around at very short notice”.
Streamline is replacing two of their B1 presses with the new Heidelberg “Push to Stop” press, which will give a net productivity increase of 20%. Taking a step towards autonomous printing, this new state of the art printing press can start and process a queue of jobs in a controlled and productive manner.
Alan Squire, Streamline’s Operations Director, says “we visited Elle Media and were impressed by their results with this machinery, but we also got a better insight on implementation that will help us to be better prepared for the press and the cultural change it will undoubtedly bring. The mindset of the entire business must change so that the flow of work from proof to press flows seamlessly and quickly. We have working parties analysing every area of our business to see what we can do better – there is a genuine excitement about this investment throughout the team, as we are able to further improve our customer service and turnaround times and continue to be at the cutting edge of technology.”
Noting the improved data feedback and transparency, Alan confirmed that he would be undertaking high performance training at Heidelberg to ensure they can use this additional information to make the best business decisions.
Striving to be “so much more” than an average printing company, Streamline Press ensures that customer service and satisfaction is at the forefront of all its business and commercial decisions. The company offers ideas, consultancy, litho, digital, wide format, mailing and fulfilment services to a number of cross-sector companies across the UK and further afield.
Already holding ISO 9001 quality accreditation, and ISO 12647 colour separation certification, Streamline Press is also sustainability-minded with FSC Chain of Custody and ISO 14001 environmental credentials. This new press investment furthers the company’s quest to be environmentally responsible, with the reduction in start-up waste and the lower energy usage resulting from the move from two presses to one.
From March, the new press will go straight into 24/7 triple shift production, with customers reaping the rewards of it immediately.
